Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 4/25/11

The summit lava lake level dropped slightly. In the east rift zone, lava episodically covered the Pu`u `O`o crater floor. Seismicity levels and gas emission rates remained generally low.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 4/24/11

The summit lava lake remained at fairly stable levels deep in the vent inset within the east wall of Halema`uma`u Crater with two abrupt drops in level followed by slow filling; circulation was from south to north most of the day switching to north to south overnight.

The summit lava lake remained at fairly stable levels deep in the vent inset within the east wall of Halema`uma`u Crater. The lava level started to rise in step with the tremor increases noted below.
