Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 6/18/11
At the summit, seismic tremor levels were decreasing and the lava lake level was stable. In the east rift zone, sources within Pu`u `O`o crater fed a lava lake perched in the middle of the crater floor whose level occasionally overflowed the rim. Seismicity levels were slightly elevated within the east rift zone. Gas emissions were moderate from east rift zone and summit vents.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 6/10/11
Lava is only present within Pu`u `O`o crater (middle east rift zone) and the vent inset within the east wall and floor of the summit's Halema`uma`u Crater. The summit lava lake level was slowly dropping over the long term. In the east rift zone, sources within Pu`u `O`o crater fed a lava lake perched in the middle of the crater floor whose level remained below the rim. Seismicity levels remained generally low.
