Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 7/13/11
Kilauea volcano's activity is confined to supplying two lava lakes. In the east rift zone, sources within Pu`u `O`o crater fed a lava lake perched in the middle of the crater floor; a shallow pressure source continued to lift the crater floor and the perched lake. At the summit, the lava lake level remained stable with circulation southeast to northwest toward a spattering sink; at this raised level, the lake exhibited periodic building and breakage of

Kilauea volcano's activity is confined to supplying two lava lakes. In the east rift zone, sources within Pu`u `O`o crater fed a lava lake perched in the middle of the crater floor which occasionally overflowed; a shallow pressure source is uplifting the lake and its rims and causing the crater to extend more rapidly than its flanks.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Lava Update: 7/3/11
Kilauea volcano's activity is stable and confined to supplying two lava lakes. In the east rift zone, sources within Pu`u `O`o crater fed a lava lake perched in the middle of the crater floor which occasionally overflowed. At the summit, the lava lake level fluctuates within a small range. Seismicity levels remained low at the summit and within the east rift zone. Gas emissions were elevated from summit and rift zone vents.
