Staying on Maui but you want to visit an active volcano? Then look no further, this One Day Hawaii Volcano Evening Eco Tour is just for you. This tour includes round-trip airfare from Kahului, Maui to Hilo where your expert tour guide will meet and greet you at the airport. Explore the Big Island’s lush side with stops to waterfalls, gardens, black sand beaches and much more! After a delicious “no-host” lunch from the Volcanoes Country Club then it’s off to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
While at the park you’ll get the chance of a lifetime to walk underground through extinct lava tubes and over lava flows younger than you. A visit the Jagger Museum will share Hawaii’s volcanic past with you.
Viewing the lava is by far the most anticipated portion of this tour. Unlike the competition which leaves in the early afternoon, we don’t arrive to the Kalapana lava viewing area until the evening allowing for some truly unforgettable photo opportunities. To ensure the safety of our guests we will only get as close to the lava as the Hawaii Civil Defense will allow.
Join us today on this one-day inter-island tour from Maui to the Big Island to experience nature like never before. This tour does fill up quickly so be sure to make your reservations today!
Tour Notes:
Lava sighting disclaimer:
Lava sighting is not guaranteed, however this year, approximately 68% of our tours experienced a lava sighting. The volcano activity and lava activity is up to Mother Nature and completely out of our control. Please keep in mind that this is a volcano eco-tour with many exciting highlights including the possibility of seeing lava; it is not a lava tour.
When flowing, lava can be often be seen day or night. Due to flight departure times from Hilo, visits to the lava viewing area regularly conclude at approximately 7pm. If you desire to see lava at night, please be sure to check the time of predicted sunset during the season in which you are planning to visit to determine darkness for lava viewing. Because of the ever-changing intensity and course of lava activity, viewing areas are subject to change as deemed necessary by Hawaii Civil Defense. Additionally, please be aware that lava flows are a naturally occurring event and sightings are not guaranteed.
We do not guarantee the viewing of active lava flow or other natural events. Volcanic fumes (VOG) are hazardous to your health. Persons with breathing and heart difficulties, pregnant women, infants, and young children are especially at risk should consult a health care professional before taking this tour to avoid potential health problems from exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form.
