Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Includes The Big Island

Lonely Planet is a top rated source for travel information, and every year they publish a list of their Top 10 US Travel Destinations. This year Hawaii, The Big Island, has made the list at number 8, and it’s the only Hawaiian island that made the list this year.

In a Media Release from Hawaii24/7 Lonely Planet’s U.S. Travel Editor, Robert Reid, described some of the reasons that the Big Island was chosen for the honor, saying “Hawaii, the Big Island was chosen for its ‘Best in Show’ qualities with regard to all Hawaiian vacation offerings – beaches, hiking, water sports, vistas, unique landscapes, varied cuisine, and accommodation options, additionally, with the rise of direct flights to Kona, travel to the Big Island has never been easier.”

Executive director of the Big Island Visitors Bureau, George Applegate, said “Hawaii Island is a destination full of inspiring experiences and big adventures and we’re honored to receive this recognition from a trusted travel source like Lonely Planet”

The Big Island is no doubt full of beauty and for someone who enjoys observing Mother Nature in her all of her amazing forms this is the place to go.
